The Reading and Writing Center offers one-on-one tutoring and small group tutoring for students on the same reading level. Because we focus on reading, spelling, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension only, we are able to master the instruction of these areas.

Students feel safe in our supportive environment. We focus on accomplishments and guide gently, yet firmly. Many of our students have felt demoralized in school and easily “shut down” unless their learning pace is met. This is what we strive to achieve.

Our teaching methods focus on the visual and tactile learning styles of our students. Comprehension is encouraged by picturing events. Many of our students say they see movies as they recall events.

Decoding and spelling words are taught with air writing, picturing syllables, and learning patterns of language. Each child is given an individualized, self-paced program based on testing and constant documentation of errors and progress. Instruction is adjusted based on desired mastery of each skill. The results are measurable, substantial, and often permanent.
